7 calculators
- Tip CalculatorThe tip, the total and the per-person share. The tax question is handled properly here: you can tip on the pre-tax amount, which is what most people intend.
- Gas Cost CalculatorDistance, mileage and price. The per-person line is the one that settles arguments on a road trip.
- Electricity Cost CalculatorWattage, hours a day and your rate per kilowatt-hour. The rate is on your utility bill; the US average is about 16 cents.
- Firewood Cord CalculatorA cord is a defined volume: 128 cubic feet, stacked. Measure the stack and this tells you whether what you were sold is what you got.
- GPA CalculatorEnter one course per line. You get the unweighted GPA on the 4.0 scale and the weighted one that counts honors and AP classes, with every course listed so you can see which is pulling.
- Final Grade CalculatorEnter the grade you have now, what the final is worth, and the grade you are aiming for. You get the score you need on the final, and an honest answer if it is out of reach.
- MPG CalculatorFill the tank, drive, fill it again. Enter the miles and the gallons it took and you get your true miles per gallon, what a mile costs you, and what you spend on gas in a year.
Running costs and school grades
The electricity cost calculator works out what an appliance costs to run from its wattage, the hours it is on and your price per kilowatt hour, which you can find on your electricity bill. The gas cost and MPG calculators do the same for a car journey or a month of driving.
For school, the GPA calculator averages your grades weighted by credit hours, and the final grade calculator shows the score you need on the final exam to reach the grade you want. The tip calculator splits a bill and a tip between any number of people, and the firewood calculator turns a stack into cords.
